Agro tourism is of primary interest in Argenteuil, and respect for the environment remains an ongoing priority for commercial and residential developments within the region.
The people who formed Argenteuil have left their mark on the landscape. Many public buildings and homes are of heritage interest, and 84 per cent of the region remains in its natural state, complete with lakes and watercourses.
Argenteuil MRC has three major watercourses: the Nord or North River, the Rouge River and the Outaouais River, with the latter being considered one of the main navigable routes of northeastern North America. Argenteuil also boasts an abundance of underground water of exceptional purity.
The vast forest and extraordinary number of bodies of water, of streams and rivers create a rich biodiversity that gives rise to many remarkable plant and wildlife habitats.
